Description

Name: Antian (a more common name given to daughters of the Fire Nation)

Alias: Weatherbender

Nationality: Southern Water Tribe
Ethnicity: Water Tribe (mother), Fire Nation (Father)
Homeland: Fire Nation, raised in the Southern Water Tribe after she turned six
Age: 37 (Book One: Air)

Gender: Female
Height: Around 5’9”
Hair Colour: Medium brown
Eye Colour: Violet (left eye is a milky-pink as a result of being both scarred and half-blinded)

Element: Water
Fighting Style: Waterbending (Southern), Bloodbending - she has also incorporated movements into her attacks that are more commonly used by and/or to evade Firebenders, as a result of her upbringing during her younger years

Waterbending: Antian utilizes a variety of different methods to fight using Waterbending, including small or large bodies of water, ice, snow and even clouds. She has gained a reputation for being able to make such good use of the water in the air and in the clouds, that she can make it rain over fairly large areas, earning her her alias. She also uses her own body’s water to achieve her means.

Healing: Antian learned to heal from her Mother and, after many years of training, and even seeking out the tutelage of Master Waterbender Katara, Antian learned how to use people’s own body water to heal them, although this apparently requires a great deal of strength and concentration, and can leave her physically exhausted.

Bloodbending: The forbidden technique taught to her by Yakone, and one which she practiced somewhat half-heartedly, it was in fact the story of her Mother using it to take away a person’s Bending, that led Noatak to use it himself, later on in his life, as Amon...

Personality: Usually friendly and gentle in her day-to-day activities, with an uncommon kindness despite her upbringing, Antian has the potential to become sharp and hot-tempered, and won’t hesitate to speak her mind if she has had enough. She is especially vocal about politics and such, publicly voicing her opinion about the Equalists, which led to her being actively hunted and pursued by Amon. She can also become quite emotional at times, too, with a passionate and reckless streak that she seems to share with Korra. Her downfall, at times, it would seem, is that she is TOO passionate - her past with Noatak and Tarrlok often brings her to conflict with herself and, eventually, with others...

Strengths: Agility, ability to often predict her opponent’s movements, kicks and speed
Weaknesses: She is highly vulnerable to attacks from her left side and, as such, does not use her arms much in close-combat, she is also somewhat scared of fire which often leads to extortion or retreat

Story: Born to a Firebending Father (Gang) after being conceived during a one-night-stand with his attendant (Calla), she spent the first six years of her life being tormented and mistreated by him and his Firebending wife (Nhia) and their three Firebending daughters (triplets; Liudan, Khailin and Xaforn). Gang did not tell his wife that Calla was actually Antian’s Mother, instead it was arranged that when Nhia was unconscious during Khailin's birth, that Antian was meant to be her "twin") but, when she witnessed Antian practicing her Waterbending with Calla, she burned Antian in an eerily similar event to Prince Zuko’s situation, with Calla stepping in at the last minute, and using Bloodbending to strip Nhia of her powers. However, with this forbidden move, she became a fugitive and, in her final acts before being captured, brought her daughter to none other than Yakone, a man whom she had met in her past and whom, apparently, owed her a favour. She had initially just intended to take Antian to safety in her homeland but, upon recognizing Yakone by his voice, threatened to reveal his true identity if he did not look after her daughter, and he begrudgingly agreed, although seemed to take interest in the fact that she was a Waterbender, and that Calla herself was able to Bloodbend. Before she departed, Calla healed Antian’s scar as best as she could, though her daughter was still left half-blind. She then vanished, and was never seen by her daughter again.

Growing up in the Southern Water Tribe with Yakone and her family, she quickly befriended Noatak and Tarrlok, practicing her Waterbending and, eventually, finding out about the boys’ secret Bloodbending lessons. Although initially angry, especially at Noatak for Bloodbending helpless animals (such as a Raccoon-Fox that she ended up saving, and keeping as a pet named Yun), she was eventually persuaded by Yakone to learn as well. In the interest of marrying off one of his sons to Antian, he persuaded Noatak to craft Antian a betrothal necklace, which he did, although Tarrlok was skeptical and also a little bit jealous. As such, it was many years before Tarrlok told her what really happened on the night that Noatak disappeared and, as a result, so did she, resolving never to have anything to do with him again, although her heart’s feelings eventually got the better of her, and sought him out, many years later. She hoped that Noatak was still alive. However, she was shocked to find out that he was really Amon. This happened when he recognized her first, by her necklace, and extorted her weak point by attacking her from the left-side, before knocking her out and sending Tarrlok into a fit of rage when he discovered that she had been abducted...
